The Story Behind the Canvas 

When Ruby and Greg approached the studio, they wanted a permanent keepsake that could honor Alvin’s massive presence. They brought a brilliant, highly creative concept to the table: recreating the iconic Biggie Smalls "King of New York" photograph starring Alvin himself.
Working from a reference photo of Alvin sitting comfortably, the painting translates that vision into fine art. Alvin wears the iconic gold crown with absolute confidence, flashing his signature, daily "bombastic side eye."

While the initial design explored a bold, striking red backdrop, a thoughtful collaborative process reshaped the palette to harmonize with the clients' home interior. The final composition uses an abstract, textured background shifting from deep, muted slate-greens to soft, sandy-beige tones. To elevate the piece further, the sand textures originally on his nose were reimagined as rich, radiant gold accents—perfectly tying the subject into the overall artistic vision.
