About this Devon Rex oil painting
 
Tom, from South Australia, commissioned this special piece as a surprise for a milestone 40th birthday. The goal was to immortalise their beloved José, a nearly 20-year-old Devon Rex with a wonderfully unique personality, creating a timeless artwork that celebrated his quiet elegance.
Working from a collection of favourite photos, we selected a charming image of José wearing a vest. At Tom’s request, I painted a soft, artistic indoor background with colours that harmonise with his ginger coat, ensuring his little pink nose was perfectly captured.

Painted on a 40×30 cm Classic canvas, the composition focuses on José’s gentle expression and the distinct texture of his fur. Finished in a natural wood floating frame, the portrait is a warm, intimate tribute that feels right at home.
