From the first reference photos and Louise’s moving words, the priority was clear — capturing Dexter’s protective, nurturing energy and the profound transition of his features over a long, beautiful life. His markings presented a meaningful artistic focus. In his younger years, Dexter's strong Husky facial features were sharp and pronounced, but as he grew older, those black lines softened. Capturing that shift — ensuring his face reflected the incredible gentleness and wisdom of his final years — became a central focus of the oil painting process.
